Fruit Rope Basket Insert
Project Objective:
To take home a beautiful basket insert for your wire fruit basket
Skills Learned:
- How to plan and setup your rope basket insert
- How to setup a zig zag stitch to sew the rope basket
- How to wrap fabric around the rope to sew in a pattern
- How to contour the sides to fit in wire fruit bowl
- How to end the basket with decorative finishes
- Amazon wire fruit bowl (no discount allowed)
- Rope Spoolette 5/16 Natural color 125' (Enough to do 2 bowls)
Requirements for you to bring to class:
- 1/4 yd each of 2-4 different focus fabrics, used for winding around rope to create a pattern
- 50 wt. Aurifil thread (color of your Preference)
- Zig Zag foot that fits on your machine
- Walking foot (helpful if you have one)
- Pack of 100/16 Demin jeans needles
- Your sewing machine and the following notions:
- Rotary cutter and ruler to cut fabric strips
- scissors/snips for cutting threads
- heavy duty pins
- clips (optional)
Introduction of instructor:
Allison has several years of sewing experience she took the Bowl and coaster class and has gained lots of knowledge of rope bowl making.
She has made several different types of rope bowls including oval and embroidery on the bottom of the bowl.
Allison has done lots of research on bowl making (different roping, different tricks and tips to help with your bowl making)
* Depending upon your experience and machine functions, you may not fully complete the entire project during class.
