Kimberbear Cuddle Buddy

If you're relatively new to machine embroidery, and want an easy, fun and small project, this is for you! Join Lisa for a class on the adorable Kimberbear stuffie! This bear was originally created in 2020 for World Children's Day by Kimberbell. The pattern is a free download from Kimberbell, and was intended to be given to children in need of a huggable friend in just the right size for little hands.
These cute bears are best made with soft minky, but are also just as cute made with canvas or regular cotton quilting fabrics.
Supplies suggested per the pattern and instructions from Kimberbell are as follows:
FABRIC:
1: Bear ¼ Yard of fabric - Minky is perfect for this project! (Check out all the brand new Minky in Unit 5!)
2: Nose Fabric Scrap
3: Heart Fabric Scrap
KIMBERBELL® PRODUCTS:
• KDTL100 Paper Tape
RECOMMENDED CLOVER TOOLS:
• Point 2 Point Turner
• Clip ‘n Glide Bodkin
OTHER:
• Poly-fil®
• Water-soluble Topping (* I prefer the tear away so that I don't have to wet my bear)
Also, your favorite general embroidery-use stabilizer.
If you plan to hand-stitch the pieces of your bear together, you will also need to bring needle and thread to do so.
You will need to download the free pattern and instructions from Kimberbell, found here:
Building a Child With the Kimberbear (kimberbell.com)
The Kimberbear requires 6 separate hoopings with a 5x7 embroidery hoop. Arms, legs, head and body are then stitched together by hand or machine to finish the bear.
Be warned - these little bears are addictive! Give to children in need of a soft cuddle buddy, grandkids, donate to children's hospitals, police, fire and rescue departments or any other number of organizations that hand out teddy bears to those in need of a huggable friend. Or, make them and give them out to friends and family, as I did. The Kimberbear is a sweet little project with the potential for a really large impact on someone's day.
