Pattern: At the Beach
Fast and fun beginner project made easy with simple piecing and machine applique.
Fabric required:
- 1/4 yard for outside border & binding
- 6" x WOF for inside border
- 14" square for the background (sand)
Scrapes for the following:
- Medium Pink 9"x4" (chair)
- Dark Pink 5"x5" (chair)
- Bright Turquoise (umbrella) 9"x4"
- Dark Turquoise (umbrella) 7"x3"
- Lime Green (radio and beach towel) 6"x5"
- White (umbrella) 9"x7"
- Bright Orange 3"x3"
- Purple (flip flops and beverage) 7"x"2"
- Medium Gray 9"x2"
Additional supplies needed:
- 2 sheets paper-backed fusible web or 1/2 yard steam-a-seam. *** Steam-a-seam recommended for this because of stacking fabrics.
- #2 pencil
- tweezers
- threads to match fabric or invisible thread
- small embroidery systems or Karen Buckley scissors
- Rotary cutter
- Mini iron
- Iron station or wool mat
- Applique sheet
- Sewing machine
- Embroidery open toe foot (e.g. Bernina Foot #20) or applique foot (Bernina foot #23) *** bring in all of your feet if you need help.
No preparation is needed before class, however, you need all of your supplies listed above.
